Whare Time

As part of our Matariki celebrations, the children across the school have been making kites in their whare groups. These are the ones that we created.

Flipping the learning

This week the children in Hub 5/6 are flipping their learning in maths. This is when they become the teachers and decide on how they are going to learn time concepts.
By the end of the week, the children are aiming to read and make o'clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past on both analogue and digital clocks. The extension options involve the children solving
everyday time problems. Here we are in action!

Writing Success

Here are some of our amazing sentences from Hub 5/6 today. Prepared to be impressed!

I hear the foxes creeping towards me in the distance.
BOOM, CRASH as the tree fall to the ground.
Again the voice of the wind called. "Come here little one."
SPLOSH as I jump onto the soggy wet grass.
I feel the trees blow against my body. I feel cold.
I see swirling leaves as they dance all around me.
I am surround by darkness.

Thorrington Resthome

We visited Thorrington Village as part of M.A.D. time. This week the children read books and drew the residents pictures. They are looking forward to us singing next week!

Finger Knitting Club

Last Tuesday during second break we started a finger knitting club. The children learnt the basics of how to finger knit and are now off to a roaring start. We will use our finger knitting to make a range of things. Next week we will look at what we can create with our finger knitting.
