Carisbrook Beckenham Sporting Exchange.

Today Carisbrook School from Dunedin visited for our annual Year 7 & 8 sporting exchange. We had a fabulous morning of competition, fun and spending time getting to know each other. We were so impressed with how welcoming and supportive our students were. In the basketball, when Beckham surged ahead, our children started up an enthusiastic chant to cheer on Carisbrook. A big thanks to the 6 Year 10 students from Cashmere High who refereed our games. The competition was close, with Beckenham excelling in basketball, Carisbrook in volleyball and in netball it was a very close game, with Carisbrook winning by 1 point. Having already won the trophy twice, it felt right that it headed down south with Carisbrook this afternoon. We are looking forward to the next time we meet in Dunedin, during our April 2016 camp.

Sporting highs and lows on Friday.

Well done to the Year 8 football team who took on the staff today. Brilliance was seen from both teams, with a one all score at full time. In the penalty shoot-out the staff pulled ahead by one.

After school the Bandits, our top basketball team, played their final game of the season at Pioneer Stadium, playing for third place in B grade against the South Steelers. If was a close game, with the Bandits playing particularly well on defence. The final score was 9:7 to Beckenham. Thanks to all those who turned up to support the team.
