Kōwhai News Term 1 Week 1
Kia ora Kōwhai whānau,
Welcome to the 2021 school year. It was so lovely to touch base with most of you at our learning conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday.
We have had a great first two days settling into our routines and getting to know each other.
We are making sure we sanitise and wash our hands throughout the day, so if your child has sensitive skin, please give them their own sanitiser to use.
We will definitely be continuing water play next week, so please remember to bring your togs on Tuesday - it's looking like it will be a hot day!
We can't wait to continue to get to know the tamariki next week and start an exciting year ahead.
Here are a few pictures of some of the fun we have had over the past few days.
Have a lovely long Waitangi weekend.
Nga mihi,
The Kōwhai team - Laura, Meagan, Rowe, Nick and Quynh

Kia ora koutou
It was amazing for our teachers to catch up with so many of you over the two learning conference days. Thank you so much for making the time to set the year up so well for your children and to ensure that you met with teachers. We know that the children have been mostly excited (and a bit nervous for some) about being back at school, and we hope you have had happy children at the end of each day yesterday and today.

First day of school!
Kia ora koutou,
We have had such a great first morning at school! 'Goodbyes' to our whanau were positive, and we quickly did our morning jobs and started our Learning Through Play. We have sung songs, listened to stories, eaten our morning tea and had break time on the playground.
We went on a walk around the school, to look at all the places we need to know about. We took the time to learn the boundaries and practise stopping at the yellow lines. Knowing about the boundaries helps to keep us safe at school.
We met Sandy, our Principal, when we were out on our walk. We even had a look to see where we can find Jo when she is out of the Hub and in the office.
Learning Through Play is lots of fun, and we are making new friends and getting to know our teachers.
A reminder that Welcome Assembly will be at 9.15 a.m. tomorrow morning in the school hall.
We look forward to telling you all about our day when we see you after school.
Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou,

- As soon as you arrive at school, go and say good morning to your home-group teacher
- If you have a phone, hand it into the blue tub and tick your name off on the chart
- If you don't want your lunch to be heated by the sun, put your lunchbox on the shelf in the maker-space when you arrive
- Remember your sunhat
- Bring your stationery if it is not at school yet
- If you took forms home to be signed and filled in, please return these to the labelled boxes on the spotty table
