Kapa Haka and Te Whānau Mahi Tahi

Kapa haka is the term for Māori performing arts and is a popular activity at Beckenham Te Kura o Pūroto. Students in kapa haka and the advanced kapa haka group, Te Whānau Mahi Tahi, are involved in a variety of performances throughout the year. These students receive specialised tuition each week from our kaiako te reo Māori. There are a variety of kapa haka groups targeting different ages and abilities across the school.

Each year our kapa haka groups perform at the Cultural Festival in Christchurch. Here’s a selection of some of these performances.
