They drew the first performance spot of the night and set an amazing standard for the performers who followed. Those of us lucky enough to be in the audience were immensely proud of them all. Every single one of our Year 7\/8 students was involved and there on the night. That is one of the strengths of being a Year 7\/8 at Beckenham - everyone takes part. I was fortunate to have a look inside again this week and the ceiling tiles and wall coverings were nearly all in. The joinery units are mostly in, and carpet is due to go down this coming week. Special thanks Fahey Fencing who have loaned us the temporary fencing for no charge. Keep shining M\u0101ia - you are amazing!<\/div><div><h2>Sharing our Learning<\/h2><h3>Kauri Team - Year 7 &amp; 8<\/h3><div><div>There are a number of advantages of choosing to spend Year 7 and 8 in a full primary school. One of the advantages is the opportunity to participate and contribute, as with fewer children at the same level, more have the chance to get involved. J-Rock is a prime example of this.<\/div><div><br \/><\/div><div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-_GvOJJCMaXo\/WR_fiL1pcFI\/AAAAAAAAXLQ\/BAOtVAy2VhI_fwJD70aV9Ygwqp12PWE1QCLcB\/s1600\/collage.JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img border=\"0\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-_GvOJJCMaXo\/WR_fiL1pcFI\/AAAAAAAAXLQ\/BAOtVAy2VhI_fwJD70aV9Ygwqp12PWE1QCLcB\/s640\/collage.JPG\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div><div><br \/><\/div><div>Yesterday the Year 7 &amp; 8 team spent an awesome day at Horncastle area, taking part in J-Rock \/ Stage Challenge. This was the culmination of a term\u2019s worth of learning, choreography, practise, refinement and the pursuit of excellence. &nbsp;For many schools, participation in this dance event is optional. At Beckenham we expect everyone to be involved. As Maddi said, <i>\u2018Some people might say they don\u2019t want to do J-Rock, but when they do it, they would be proud of themselves and they would want to do it again\u2019<\/i>. &nbsp;Aside from our lighting technician and our backstage hand, every child stepped out under the lights, in front of a huge audience, and shone on stage. Boy were we proud of them.&nbsp;<\/div><div><br \/><\/div><div>Initially enthusiasm levels weren\u2019t that high, but by the time we were ready to perform, 99% of the children were loving it. As Portia said: <i>\u2018It was great; one of my best times at Beckenham.\u2019<\/i> Today the children reflected on their experience. They had lots of gems to share:&nbsp;<\/div><div><i>\u2018Don\u2019t say you\u2019re scared, just give it a go and you will have a great time.\u2019<\/i> Joe<\/div><div><i>\u2018I liked how supportive everyone was, including other schools.\u2019 <\/i>Rosie<\/div><div><i>\u2018It put people out of their comfort zone and made then more confident.\u2019<\/i> Sadie<\/div><div><i>\u2018We used synergy a lot, to help others.\u2019<\/i> Boston<\/div><div><i>\u2018It improved my teamwork and leadership skills.\u2019<\/i> Bella<\/div><div><i>\u2018It was a really cool atmosphere. I liked that we could share everyone\u2019s ideas.\u2019<\/i> Olivia<\/div><div><i>\u2018Everyone got a chance to be a star.\u2019<\/i> Isaac<\/div><div><br \/><\/div><div>We are looking forward to sharing our performance, which focuses on our school\u2019s whakapapa, with the rest of the school and our parent community, later in the term.<\/div><\/div><div><br \/><\/div><h2>School Notices<\/h2><\/div><div><h4>Safety around the buses<\/h4><div>We have noticed a small number of caregivers who are dropping\/collecting children from the buses who continue to park on the 'no parking' zone opposite the buses. This results in the children crossing the road between the buses, putting them at extreme risk of being hit by a passing vehicle.<\/div><div>We do our best to put systems in place and we rely on everyone to follow those systems to keep all to keep all of our children safe.<br \/><h4>Unknown Person<\/h4><h4><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Our school account is receiving regular deposits from an individual identified as Y. You can order for future days, and you can also place a repeating order for a particular day(s). &nbsp;A recent update to their menu means that you can now order a kids size pita or a regular size pita for the students who require something a little larger.<br \/>Each term, Lunchonline sends us a cheque for commission from the total orders that our families purchase. They drew the first performance spot of the night and set an amazing standard for the performers who followed. Those of us lucky enough to be in the audience were immensely proud of them all. I was fortunate to have a look inside again this week and the ceiling tiles and wall coverings were nearly all in. The joinery units are mostly in, and carpet is due to go down this coming week. One of the advantages is the opportunity to participate and contribute, as with fewer children at the same level, more have the chance to get involved. This was the culmination of a term&rsquo;s worth of learning, choreography, practise, refinement and the pursuit of excellence. &nbsp;For many schools, participation in this dance event is optional. At Beckenham we expect everyone to be involved. As Maddi said, <i>&lsquo;Some people might say they don&rsquo;t want to do J-Rock, but when they do it, they would be proud of themselves and they would want to do it again&rsquo;<\/i>. &nbsp;Aside from our lighting technician and our backstage hand, every child stepped out under the lights, in front of a huge audience, and shone on stage. Boy were we proud of them.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Initially enthusiasm levels weren&rsquo;t that high, but by the time we were ready to perform, 99% of the children were loving it. As Portia said: <i>&lsquo;It was great; one of my best times at Beckenham.&rsquo;<\/i> Today the children reflected on their experience. They had lots of gems to share:&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n<i>&lsquo;Don&rsquo;t say you&rsquo;re scared, just give it a go and you will have a great time.&rsquo;<\/i> Joe<\/div>\n<div>\n<i>&lsquo;I liked how supportive everyone was, including other schools.&rsquo; <\/i>Rosie<\/div>\n<div>\n<i>&lsquo;It put people out of their comfort zone and made then more confident.&rsquo;<\/i> Sadie<\/div>\n<div>\n<i>&lsquo;We used synergy a lot, to help others.&rsquo;<\/i> Boston<\/div>\n<div>\n<i>&lsquo;It improved my teamwork and leadership skills.&rsquo;<\/i> Bella<\/div>\n<div>\n<i>&lsquo;It was a really cool atmosphere.
