Principal's Patch<\/h2>

Kia ora koutou<\/h3>A reminder to all that this Monday the 19th of September, the school will be CLOSED <\/span><\/b>to all students, while our kaimahi (staff) participate in a Staff Only Day of professional learning and development. We will be continuing to develop our understanding of  \"Trauma Informed Practice\", as well as working on <\/span><\/span>moderation of assessment, use of <\/span>HERO and preparation for end-of-year reports.<\/span><\/div>

From Wednesday to Friday of this last week, I was at our new conference centre, Te Pai, attending the annual New Zealand Principals' Federation Conference with over 860 other primary principals from around New Zealand. It was a huge privilege to be able to host this event in Christchurch for the first time in over 12 years, and to be able to showcase our amazing new convention centre and increasingly re-built city. We were challenged by numerous speakers, including a youth panel that included past-student, Lucy Gray, to consider the impacts and reach of our leadership. Each speaker gave us a new 'wero' or challenge to strive for better outcomes in terms of equity, excellence, inclusion, sustainability and wellbeing.<\/span><\/div>

We are delighted to welcome Megan Harris <\/b>back onto our staff. Megan was a teacher in our Year 7\/8 team a number of years ago, and has recently returned from a time in Dunedin. Megan is currently working in the Kahikatea team.<\/span><\/div>

Q&A Evening - Y8 Cashmere Bound \u0100konga<\/h3><\/div>
We welcome all wh\u0101nau of Year 8 Cashmere enrolled \u0101konga (students) for 2023 to join us for the opportunity to meet with Cashmere High School Principal, Joe Eccleton. The idea of this meeting is to provide wh\u0101nau and \u0101konga the opportunity to ask questions in a smaller group as opposed to the larger Year 8 Parents Evening hosted at Cashmere later in the year.

Crossing Tennyson St safely<\/span><\/h3>
Wh\u0101nau please talk to your tamariki who are coming to school by crossing over Tennyson Street by the end of Norwood Street.  Please reiterate to them that the safety island is NOT a pedestrian crossing.  Cars are not required to stop for them when they are in the safety island; they need to look both ways before crossing the road if they are in this safety island.<\/span><\/div>
There was a near miss this week due to a student presuming a car would stop and not looking properly before crossing from the island.<\/span><\/div><\/div>

Community Dental Service - Clinics open in October School Holidays<\/h3>
Priority for Community Dental Service appointments during the school break will be for immediate dental needs at the following clinics:<\/div>
