Alert Levels and Traffic Lights...<\/span><\/h3>
As the country has moved to the new Covid Protection Framework (Traffic lights) this week, it has created quite a lot of confusion around what schools are supposed to be doing for both schools and their communities.<\/span><\/div>
Ministry of Education guidelines have requested that schools continue to operate at Level 2 guidelines until the end of the 2021 school year. They have also requested that non-curriculum events (including performances, picnics and prizegivings) that bring parents onto the school site do not happen at Level 2.<\/span><\/div>
To comply with these guidelines, just as many other schools have done, we have recorded our Kapa Haka performances this week and will be sharing those with wh\u0101nau shortly. We have also planned to make our Year 8 graduation an event that parents will be able to participate in by watching on-line, rather than in person. We do understand that this is very disappointing for wh\u0101nau who had expected to be able to attend these events in person. We also know that more wh\u0101nau will be able to enjoy these events through having them online, as there will be no restriction on the number of family members who can watch on-line. <\/div>
We will be moving to the COVID Protection Framework (Traffic Light system) from the start of 2022, at whatever colour of the traffic light system we are at at the time.<\/div><\/span>

Helping others this Christmas<\/h3>
This week, we are collecting items to donate to the City Mission. This is a small way that we, as a community, can show that 'We Care' and 'We Make a Difference'. COVID has made this year a tough year for many, and the City Mission need our help more than ever.<\/div>

<\/div>
Donations can include non-perishable food items such as tinned fruit and veges, rice and pasta, tea and coffee, toiletries such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo and nappies, along with Christmas treats such as chocolate. These small gifts will go a long way to helping brighten the Christmas of others.<\/div>
Please bring donations to the office or to the collection point on the library verandah each morning.<\/div>

Kapa Haka<\/h3>Our students really enjoyed putting their best performances onto video this week to share with their wh\u0101nau. The video will be shared with wh\u0101nau of kapa haka students this coming week.<\/span><\/div>

Writing Achievements <\/h3>
Kate, one of the budding young writers in Kauri Hub, saw incredible success earlier this year when she became a published author for the first time. Kate wrote a fractured fairytale on the classic 'Little Red Riding Hood' which saw her published amongst other talented young writers in New Zealand. What a fantastic achievement!! <\/div>

Another one of our talented students, Katya Atlas, submitted a memoir in the writing competition 'Write On'. The true recollection of her meeting her sister for the first time impressed judges so much that she was awarded 'distinction'. We couldn't be happier for her! <\/div><\/div>

K\u014dwhai kids\u2019 art project! <\/h3>
K\u014dwhai students have been learning how to use tape to get crisp edges with their painting, how to blend colours, and select inspiring patterns or quotes!<\/div>

Sports Uniforms<\/h3>
The only children who still require a sports top are the Year 3\/4 mini ball teams. Please, could you check at home for any sports uniforms that your child may have and return them to the office as soon as possible. <\/div><\/div>

Xmas Theme<\/b> - As we welcome back our spectators and family members we encourage your players to 'dress up' in a Christmas theme. This may include face paint, xmas hats, decorations or anything with christmas attire. Players can't wear hats when playing or anything they normally wouldn't wear but can wear it when seated on the bench or before\/after games! Santa will be there giving out goodies to anyone in the stadium so look out for him! <\/div>
