School Donations Scheme\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To enable us to provide a rich and diverse programme for our children, we request an annual donation of $150 per student from families, which helps towards covering the cost of various activities throughout the year that are not allowed for in our Operations budget. This includes day trips, swimming lessons, visiting performers to the school, some inter-school sports activities etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So we are able to keep our school donation request as low as possible, you will also find that from time to time, there are additional donation requests added to your student\u2019s Hero accounts for activities that have a significant cost and are only for specific year groups, such as the Year 7 & 8 Ski Trip, Koru games, and overnight camps. You will be notified of these directly prior to the activity taking place.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the costs of camps (Year 5-8 students) are not known until closer to the time, budgeting for an additional $200-$280 per camp is a good guide. More detailed cost information is sent out closer to the time of each camp.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to our donation requests, there are some <\/span>fees<\/b> applied to your Hero account for optional extra-curricular activities such as Miniball, Touch Rugby, Cycling, etc. <\/span>These fees need to be paid in full before the activity takes place.\u00a0 <\/b>There is also a fee for the take-home component of the Christchurch South Technology for Year 7 & 8\u2019s ($25.00), which can be paid throughout the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The reason we decided on $150 per child for the School Donation is that this was the amount that the government had determined it would give to some schools, instead of the schools needing to ask for donations from wh\u0101nau. Our school was not eligible to receive the $150 of funding from the government, as they believed that we could ask for this money, and more, from wh\u0101nau directly.<\/span><\/p>\n

If all of our families were able to make this contribution, or even a portion of it that they could afford, this would make a positive difference to our curriculum and activities budget.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can pay the donations in full, in instalments, or set up a regular automatic payment. To cover the annual donation, a regular payment would need to be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Claiming back 33% of your School Donations and Contributions from the IRD<\/h3>\n
\n

A reminder that via the IRD you may be eligible to claim back 33.33 cents for every dollar you donate to the school. This includes both school donations and contributions towards camps.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the main IRD website https:\/\/www.ird.govt.nz\/<\/a> <\/strong>you can search \u2018submit a donation receipt\u2019 to find out more.<\/p>\n

You are now able to produce your own Tax Donation Receipt from your Hero Login, from the tax year ending 31st March 2022.<\/strong>
\nYou will need to do this by signing in through your browser, not in the app.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Please follow this link for instructions<\/a><\/strong>. Your receipt will be downloaded to your device for you to print or attach to your online IRD donation claim.<\/p>\n

For receipts for previous years, you will still need to contact us by emailing accounts@beckenham.school.nz to request a tax receipt. There is a limit of 4 tax years for making a claim.<\/p>\n

If you make payments towards this year\u2019s donation before 31st March it will appear on your Donation receipt for the current financial year.<\/strong><\/p>\n
